User Experience Researcher

Destiny 2: Forsaken

Major expansion for first-person shooter video game Destiny 2

Released: September 4, 2018

Role: Senior User Researcher - Lead Researcher

Where: Bungie

When: 2017-2018

Contributions: Lots of playtesting (a specialized form of multi-user simultaneous testing), usability testing, and surveys

This acclaimed expansion to 2017’s base game was the result of taking lots of player feedback to heart and really focusing on what Destiny does best. There were new destinations, new combatants, a new bow weapon archetype, new Super abilities for every subclass, a new game mode called Gambit that delightfully mixed PvP and PvE, in-game lore and collections, a darker narrative style and a story that extended well into the endgame.

I was the lead User Researcher for this expansion throughout development, from early project planning applying learnings from the strengths and weaknesses of Destiny 2 releases that came before it, to UX benchmarking of the final product, and all of the iterative evaluation in between.
